What is Montessori?
The Montessori Method is a philosophy that respects the individuality of each child. It is founded on the belief that children should be free to succeed and learn without restriction or criticism. It is also an approach to education that takes to heart the needs, talents, gifts, and special individuality of each child. It is a process that helps children learn in their own way at their own pace. Daycare Centre Dunedin
The main concept of Montessori is to promote the joy of learning. This joy of learning develops a well-adjusted person who has a purpose and direction in their life. Children, who experience the joy of learning, are happy, confident, fulfilled children.
It helps children to become independent and self-reliant by teaching them life skills, which is called practical life.

Here at Learning Links we always want to create an environment that is inclusive for all tamariki and allows them to create a sense of belonging for themselves.
Helping to make playdough is a great way to do this. All tamariki can be involved and they are participating to make something that then they will be able to use as an activity in our ruma. This also helps us build relationships with one another because we practice taking turns and sharing. Well done! And we sure enjoy exploring with our playdough once we are finished!
What a magical evening we have had at Learning Links Montessori to celebrate Matariki.
A huge thank you to our wonderful community for coming along and sharing this evening with us. Our tamariki did the most amazing job performing their favourite waiata in front of their families.
Together, we enjoyed the delicious soup our tamariki prepared during the week.
The evening was completed by a fun disco before everyone headed home under the lovely night sky
What an exciting week we are having to get ready for our Matariki celebration this coming Friday.
Our tamariki have been busy with baking star cookies, preparing vegetable soup, making decorations and practicing waiata for their performance.
We can’t wait to acknowledge the Maori New Year with our Learning Links Community. Watch this space!
